Yamaha EF2000iS generator score at Hamburg, PA Cabelas
I've been looking for a mid-sized high quality generator for a while now. I've been meaning to bite the bullet and order a Yamaha EF2000iS from Amazon for $1,000, but I hadn't gotten around to it yet. Today, my procrastination paid off. I was in the Bargain Cave section of the Hamburg, PA Cabelas store when I saw several Yamaha 2000 watt inverter generators marked down to $700. All of these generators where in sealed/unopened boxes, albeit some of the boxes were a little beat up. While I was looking at the generator, a customer told me that a lot of times Cabelas will discount Bargain Cave stuff even more if you ask. Would you believe that the cashier said he'd be happy to take another $100 off, lowering the price to $600. With my CC points, I actually got the generator for about $550. I got it home, put Yamaha oil in it, gassed it up, and it came to life on the first pull. It is amazing quiet and exceptionally smooth. It ran may air compressor without any difficulty. I'm blown away with the high quality of this generator.
To anyone else in the PA area, they had a few more of these in stock. If interested, it might be worth the drive. The employee who I spoke with said that they found these in a back storage room. It looks like mine was made in March, 2011, but all of the ones I saw were clearly brand new and had never been opened or used in any way. My brother who lives nearby also has one of these. The great thing is that you can connect two of these 2,000 watt generators with a special cable and have twice the power for larger appliances. If my brother didn't already have one, I'd consider buying two.
I am VERY tempted to make the trip! Thanks for sharing!
hmm, That's a little bit of a road trip for me, but, it has been a few years since I've be up that way.

I was actually back there again today. I bought a $320 pair of USA made Danner Raptor boots for $190. That's still a lot to pay for great boots, but the only flaw is a tiny drop of glue on the "Made in the USA" tag. I was kicking myself for not buying the boots yesterday and since I was working nearby again today, I said screw it and returned to buy them.
Regarding the generators, I only saw one left, but yesterday the guy said he thought there was more in the back. I might be wise to call ahead.
You certainly made some good scores! And I say 'Good for you!' ....and by the way while I'm buttering you up, I'll give you $750 to take that Yamaha generator off your hands...of course that would be the cost including shipping
