I am looking for an ultra lightweight tent that sleeps 3, so I'll need about 50 sq ft.
REI has a Big Agnes UL4 tent (50 sq. feet–– the UL3 is too small) that weights 4 pounds and 9 ounces.

Are there lighter options out there that work well?
Thanks.
Most ultralight tents are for backpacking and generally fall into one and two person models. But there are some. As with most backpacking tents, they're pretty much just for sleeping in. You're not going to want to spend a day sitting out a storm in one.

Alot of the "ultra light" guys ditch tents in favor of tarps or tarp tents. Then there's some people still that love floor less tents such the go-lite shangrila 3 or 5 or kifaru's tipi styles. Floor less tents have alot of nice advantages over traditional tents. You save weight by eliminating the floor. You don't have take off your shoes before getting into the tent. In winter time alot of them can be converted into heated tents by adding the stove jack and using a small wood burning stove.

Golites now come only as a bundle with the fly sheet and nest with floor however it can be pitched with just the flysheet

That's a bummer, at least you can still get just the fly sheet off ebay for a reasonable price.

If a floored, double-wall tent is what you want, the BA Fly Creek is a good choice. You won't find many similar tents that light. I have two BA tents (Seedhouse SL2 and Copper Spur UL3), and I like them when I want that style of tent. When bugs aren't an issue, I use a tarp instead, to save weight. There are many good manufacturers of SUL tarps. Check out the BackpackingLight.com forums for lots of good info.

Fly Creek is a great choice. I also like the new MSR Nook but it is only a 2P The Big Agnes CopperSpur has been redesigned for '12. Little larger then Fly Creek but also a little heavier.
