That equates to $2.80 gallon for high quality K1. As I drove home I passed a local gas station that sells K1for $4.49/gal...

Can that stuff be used in kerosene lanterns or not? I've heard conflicting reports.

No. There is no conflict. I'm not guessing. The flash point is too low. Just because it will burn does not mean its safe. Go to their website and look at the msds sheet. 105 degrees is too low.

Now I wish I had not cleaned out every local store....

I read (after buying) that it was Stoddard Solvent, I bought some intending to use it in my lanterns but when I saw the MSDS I began to wonder. Then I saw a couple warnings on some lantern collector sites, of course on the label it says "suitable for all kerosene burning heaters, lamps, and stoves"...

What section are they in? I checked 8 Walmarts after the Kleenstrip Kerosene thread and can't find Kerosene by the gallon or more anywhere in TX.

I found the seven pictured above in the isle with electric heaters and fireplace logs. They have been hovering at the$11.00 mark for a couple weeks. Today I noticed they dropped to $7 so I snapped all they had up. At 2.80/gal it's a screaming deal regardless of lantern use. Original price was $20 which was outrageous IMHO. We will use our stash as backup heat or as fuel 50/50 mix for our Chanfa diesel generator!
