Extended run fuel tank for Honda generator?
Who has one? Did you make it or buy it? Any problems? There are a couple out there but this was the cheapest that used a marine tank and not a plastic jerry can with a hole drilled thru the cap. I just ordered one from an ebay seller.
Extended run fuel system
Does anyone have this setup? I know people built them for less but I figured it would cost $50-60 to buy all the parts and I didn't have the time play with it.
I made one BUT the price of the baot tanks is +$50 these days
I would buy an aluminum cap instead of converting the oem cap

I think this comes with an aluminum cap.
That looks like the "BERG" one. I have it and it works great with my EU2000.
I did pick up a 3 gallon tank which I prefer to use rather than the 6 gallon tank.
I'm not very bright, so please bear with me:
Will something like this work on a Champion 3.4kw? What is the meaning behind a 'vacuum draw system; no need to elevate a gas can above
the generator."

The fuel is pulled from the source by vacuum in the fuel tank as fuel in the onboard tank is used because your replacing the tank vent in the cap with a line to another tank..
I don't know about a champion. If the vent is in the cap and the rest of the system is sealed then a similar setup should work.

I found a thread on RVnet. A lot of RVers use small generators when camping.
RVnet Basically, you would need a gravity fed setup tied into the fuel line, not the gas cap.
Thanks for the info men.
Here's another cap at 1/3rd the price:
Honda generator cap
The BERG package (which the OP posted an ebay link of) also includes the fuel line/fittings and a 6 gallon tank. With those items in the mix the cost is probably about the same...
That being said I have the magnetic EU2000 dipstick from the folks you posted and it is a top notch piece of work!
I love mine. I have the IPI or Berg system. It is very high quality the cap, hose and quick disconnect. The tank is a standard boat gas tank.
I think I paid $100 apiece for the units, very well worth it not having to fuel up every 3 or 4 hours.
My buddy made his own extended run tanks and was forever having to work on them to get them to work, my store bought units have have gave a minutes trouble.
The bad part about it when the tanks don't work the generators cut off and it could cause damage to sensitive electronics.

In this picture the shed does not have the exaust hole cut out yet. It now does.
