I have a 1000 gallon tank and is there a best time of year to fill it? Is it cheaper to buy between winter and spring? After heating but before barbeque's? Or is summer good?

I fill my 1000 gallon tank in august every year. Usually this gets me close to the best price available for the year. Usually.

I would run some searches and see what propane prices did when gas prices spiked last summer.

With the current economy I would seriously consider what the total savings would be on waiting for a lower price and see what might happen if gas prices go silly this summer for some oddball reason.

I honestly don't recall what they did last summer when gas prices spiked.

But right now I am looking at getting a bit of diesel because I doubt it will remain as cheap as it is now.

And if it gets even cheaper, I won't complain about losing 50 bucks or so since I am happy knowing I have some in storage and can just be comfortable knowing I have it already.

Since I got my OWB, I haven't bought propane all winter. In May the tank was at 50%, today it's at 20%. Use LP for cooking, water heater, and dryer. With a little plumbing I will add the H2O heater to the boiler circuit and save in the cold months (9 of them here in MN), hang out the clothes when it is warm enough, and use the LP mainly for cooking. With the OWB there is no where near the moisture and condensation on the windows in winter. Was a big problem in the past. Anyways, I too am shopping for LP, my tank is rented from the company that fills it, just curious if I can convince another company (Cash For Gas) to fill it.

summer, except for last summer...
I paid near $2.00 per gallon last july or august, right before the price of crude started to drop like a rock. I'll be refilling my 1000 gal. tank pretty soon, I'm pretty sure crude will be going back up soon. It's a crap-shoot.

and, what is an OWB?
