First decide if you want to reel right or left handed. I cast right reel left. Almost all reels can be converted easily. You will need to put some Dacron backing on the spool then add the line. Use and arbor knot or improved clinch to tie the backing to the spool. Use an Albright knot to tie backing to the flyline. How much backing you use will depend on the size of your spool and the flyline you choose. If you take it to a fly shop they can help you through the process. Some may charge a small fee but it will be done right.
