How do i get more out of this motor!! Its on a 16ft hewes sportman.
More what? Speed? How many RPM's does it turn at wide open throttle with a typical load and trimmed out? If it is within the operating range for that engine, then thats all it will do. Time for a bigger motor.

5100 rpms it gets on plain..its just to small a motor i guess. Would a new prop make much of a diff? its a 13 pitch
If you step up to a 15 pitch, the engine might not make it into it's operating range leading to detonation and destruction of the engine. If you step down to an 11 pitch, it may rev too high and come apart on you. If it is running within it's operating range at Wide Open Throttle trimmed out, then it's just too small for what you want to do. What is the WOT operating range on that engine? It should say in the owners manual or on the serial number sticker on the stern bracket. Compare that spec to what you are getting. This will tell you if you can re-prop. Less pitch = more RPM's. More pitch = less RPM's.

Looks like your operating range on the rpm is 5,500 to 6,000.
I see the boat weighs 920lbs without equipment.
That 50 might be a little slow if your loaded down.

So i retract my earlier statement about it moving pretty well.
Yeah, i need a new motor!! Think ill just wait a few years and upgrade the boat. Its getten me out to the crab and the pinks are running now!
