40 year old fiberglass still good?
I have a chance to buy a 10 foot kayak for cheap. The only problem is it's a 40 year old fiberglass. I was wondering if the fiberglass will still be good after all these years? Or is it going to break when I hit something?
It should be fine if it hasn't been sitting in the sun or full of water. Try flexing it and see if it makes a crackling sound. Also look for exposed fiberglass fibers which would suggest the resin is thin or deteriorated.
