I took my oldest son out on Oct 25th, wasn't going to go because of high winds and the lake turning over shut the muskie down
I was flashing a few fish deep and shallow but couldn't get them to bite, I decided to run deep water with shallow running lures on 3 poles and a deep runner on the other pole
We were ready to leave since it was hard to hit my trolling path and I told my son to put on a Rapala Clackin Minnow that has caught Bass, Saugeye and a 30" Channel Cat, we took off at 2.5 MPH and 50 yds from where we pull in the poles to go home the reel ripped< I told my son to "pound it" and I killed the motor and reeled in the other 3 poles
Well I netted the Muskie at 5:30 PM and since the water was 56 degrees I knew the fish would be lively, I went to put the "lip grabber" on him and with no warning wam, he got me on the thumb and the blood was pouring out of a small cut
I got the fish out of the net, wrapped my hand in a towel because it looked like I commited a murder in my boat, took pics and then released the fish unharmed and very active
Got home with blood all over my truck because I tried to stop the bleeding and it just wouldn't stop and gauze and a big band aid wouldn't stick, at 8:15 PM the cut was still bleeding bad and swelling, after a bottle of peroxide my wife said I better get it cleaned out so since an ER visit is free because she works in this ER off we went
I told the Dr that I couldn't get the super glue to adhere because the blood pushed it away from my thumb he told me good thing because I would have sealed the bacteria in, I didn't tell him I did this before but I never got cut this deep before either
The Dr cleaned it, and put a few stitches in it and sent me home with an antibiotic and vicodin in case it started hurting, it was tender but never hurt
42" Muskie
