Snakeheads in the Everglades
First cast, I pull this guy in.
Threw him ashore and he got a few extra holes in him from my Emerson. Put up a decent fight, strikes pretty hard.

Nice catchkill! What did it hit?
I don't have the model, but it is a Rapala DT, orange with black tigerstripes. Pair of red treble hooks, got him with the rear.

Good kill. Get a few more!
Actually that looks like a bowfin. Murderer!

yeah looks like a Bowfin or as we call them Grenel to me
I wish I could fully express how ashamed I am at myself for improperly IDing a fish.
Wow, I fail.

Bowfin.
LOL, We have so many snakeheads here now, folks are GUIDING for them!
Excellent eating, if you can avoid the grubs.
Remind me of walleye.
and they love Zoom Horny Toads
+1
They have a very wide range as I used to catch them as a kid in Canada. They make terrible table fare.

We call them grinnels around here.
When we catch those nasty bastards around here we throw them on the bank. My father in law caught a 5.5 pounder the other day. Creepiest damn thing ive ever seen
Mudfish is what we call them up here...
