I went Steelhead Fishing with a few buddies of mine in Erie Pa. on Elk Creek. Didn't catch any the first day, spent most of my time learning technique but on the second day I caught this beast. Brought him home and cooked him for dinner, mighty tasty.

Nice fish

We have one of the best steelhead fisheries in the country right here in my city. I haven't gone after any in along time . Sure the heck was fun though, they generally put up a great fight. Sometimes we'd go out with medium and lightweight gear and go at them, made it even more interesting when you hooked into one.

You freshwater guys have a funny idea of what a big fish is.

Dinner looks good.

steelhead fishing is some of the best fishing up in NE ohio if you dont like to go out on the lake
the only thing is is it is getting $$$ on new poles and reels
the season here starts in mid/late sep and i quit fishing sometimes late april
nothing better then standing in the middle of a river reeling in a fish in the middle of a blinding snowstorm

It's getting close here to good fishing. I went to the Vermilion River (north central Ohio) over the weekend, there weren't any running that I could see, but I would expect that to change here soon.

Usually about the time I'm done bowhunting, steelhead fishing is taking off. So much for staying inside in the cold weather.
