Well ,my first fish was a small perch caught in a small lake in Michigan, at appx age 5.
I named him Ralph. I'm not sure why, it just seemed like a good name.
The next fish I caught, the small king salmon seen below, was more than 10 years later, this time in Little Traverse Bay, still in Michigan. I hooked up not 5 minutes off the pier, but caught the baby of the bunch. My brother caught a big boy 30+ lbs. It was delicious

Fast forward 4 years, I was a striper fishing machine in the Delaware River.
Now I'm a self proclaimed redfish hunter in Texas.
Go figure.
my first was a bream caught in a canal with my dad using bread for bait. I too was no more than 5 or so.

My 7 year old with her first rainbow trout... Man was she excited!

And yeah... I was a proud dad too
i am gonna guess bluegill.
i only catch average fish so no cool pics or awesome stories but i am gonna try and fix that this year.
dad said it was a bluegill. i hauled that poor thing around on a stringer forever, then we went to what i called a cliff at the time to release him. the poor guy hit the ground right by the water.
dad told me later that his mom came to get him and he was fine. i believed that for a while, too...
i was about 5 or so. a very memorable time i guess.
I use to catch minnows on live worms in the drain crecks. The lil minnow whould suck on the worm and it would not let go. LOL. I could not tell U what was my first fish was.
