My wife and I are thinking about getting a bird hunting dog. We are not sure if we want to try to find one that is already trained/started or get one as a pup and do it our selves. My wife is a dog trainer by profession but only has a little experience in field training she normally does different obediance levels and some show training as well.

I think our choices would be:

pointing choc lab (by pointing I mean one that points not a mix)
German short hair

If anyone knows of a decent place to inquire about finding either one of these fine animals please feel free to share. The things we want to take into consideration are bloodline, breeder health warrany (if a puppy or young dog), training level if started, and of course the all mighty $$$

A little background info on us to help with a decision if any of you have advice. We have a 9 month old daughter, a doberman (male), and a boxer (female) and both are spayed/neutered and well trained. We have a decent sized back yard that is completely fenced in, our current dogs can easily get up to full speed and chase each other around. We have plenty of public hunting land to run and practice and a decent private club that offers traning as well.

As stated before any help in finding a decent breeder or any advise would be greatly apprecited.
