 Night Vision illumintor question

If there is a better category to post this under, please let me know, I looked in all the categories and I guess it fell into this one.

regarding the illuminators listed here: illuminators

I had the 805nm first, and was ok with it. I hated that if you pointed it at someone at night, they could clearly see the red coming from the light source, especially in pitch black. On the description, it says that the 940nm will be unnoticed to almost all animals and birds....

My questions:

1) When they say it will be unnoticed, are they talking about the red light i speak of, or the projected light? (i would assume projected light)

2) Would the 940nm show less of a red at the source compared to the 805nm? Or is that the downfall of non thousand dollar illuminators, and I just have to deal with it?

I've tried to find info on nM and everything else that goes along with it, but hoping someone here who has real world experience with these things can chime in. I'm looking for something in the $150 or less price range btw. thanks in advance

you could also check out the Armory -> night vision forum, good info there

check out the ELR Torch from TNVC
a bit pricier, but worth it.

keep an eye on EE & they can be had for about same as one you posted.
