The heat b/c you gotta worry about these Fu#kers!!!!

Along with mocasins and pythons now too. I spent more time keeping any eye on my son than looking around for game.

Yeah eastern diamond back, wasn't sure about legality on these when I saw it, plus we were leaving to go home so it was his lucky day. It would have been my son's first kill ever.

That was also the first one I've ever seen wild, badass! That was a cool moment.

Yeah, I went last saturday, opening day in Corbett to check things out. A metric ton of people in there and lots of water. I have a quota permit for babcock but forget it, I went to check it out about 2 months ago and it was flooded out then, I could imagine what it is like now with all the rain we have gotten. So my son and I went to Corbett Monday night, tues and wed morning. It's definintely not as crowded during the week but the the warm weather sucked.

Now to add insult to injury, the weather is supposed to turn nice tonight and I won't be there.

Nice appetizer and hat band!I hunted Corbett,Holy land,Browns farm,Bear Island unit,Bull creek and three lakes and they all had lots of Skeets and snakes! The heat and all the people trying to get a 70# deer just killed it for me.Okeechobee has some nice areas if you have an airboat to get away from everyone.N Georgia has shitloads of deer and the cool weather slows the snakes down some if you want to take meat home.Still miss the smell of the swamps and hunting hogs though.Might want to try Aucilla area in the panhandle also.I know its a drive but it has loads of game and fresh or saltwater fishing within walking distance!

I'm kinda limited in how far I can drive if I want to take my son b/c of school so panhandle is a little too far.

Snakes don't suck, they bite. Mosquitoes, they suck, so do ticks and leeches.

Last year I visited my son in Tallahassee and we hiked in the big forest lands that are in that area...which I can't remember the name...But he and I both wore snake chaps and while we were walking along the edge of a swamp I came within 6' of stepping on a cottonmouth. If it hadn't moved I don't know if I would have seen it. We were even watching for snakes and I missed that one. It was about 30" long. Made my heart rev-up for a second...

I went to school in Tallahassee. Guy I worked with was walking out of his bedroom and heard a rattle. Flipped the light on and had a small rattler that got in his house and curled up in the hallway at his bedroom door!

Meh, I would worry about my son at that age, but I grew up out there back in the day. My cousin and I would work as hard as possible to get my Jeep or his homemade buggy stuck. I mean stuck - as in nothing nearby to winch off of and after using a couple of Jeep Jacks and a few fresh cut trees for traction stuck. Then we would load up the good gear and walk/slosh our way back the mile or two through the swamp on our way to camp - way after dark....ahh, the good old days And no, I've never seen, let alone wore snake boot/chaps or whatever you call them.
