Pics from recent climb up Mt. San Antonio in CA
Climbed Mt. San Antonio (Mt. "Baldy") weekend before last. Tested out the LA Police Gear 3 day pack at around 25lbs of weight. Beautiful climb to the summit at 10068ft.
The pack performed ok but the hip buckles were a little uncomfortable...could use some more padding. Otherwise thumbs up.
Around 8000'
...9000'...
Summit looking SE towards Palm Springs/Banning Pass.
Beginning the descent
Crossing the "Devils' Backbone"
Beautiful!. Thanks for posting

Cool pics
Awesome! Looks like a great day of trekking.
The Devils Backbone section looks awesome. No snow yet?
No snow but still running water at the ski hut on the way up. I was surprised how green the brush still was.
used to back pack up there when we lived in CA. but never went to the top. Very pretty place. thanks for posting the pics
stuck
cool pics, wish I had some terrain like that around here where i live
Cool pics! Nice looking country.
I'd never been up there. It's amazingly close to LA. 45min-hour from the middle of the valley.
The plan is to climb Mt. Whitney in Summer next year... so there will be some training climbs up Baldy to prep.

Nice!
I'm just getting back into climbing since a nearly-10 year absence. Sold all of my rock/ice gear several years ago. So now I'm having to re-acquire it all. Got ice boots and ice tools on the way. Will have crampons, screws, quick-draws, belay/descend devices, biners, ropes and another harness (already have one) on the way shortly. This crap ain't cheap!
Depending how Whitney goes with the altitude I would definitely be open to Mt. Rainier...but now we are talking real snow, ice, climbing ropes and training. Alpine Ascents look like they have a great 3 day climb and run you through training. It's also a question of prepping to be able to carry the weight in winter gear. Should be cool!
