Who uses them? I need something I can throw in the truck and use at shooting matches/ camping etc.
EZ up seems to be the big name but I dont know anything about them. Most of them are around 100 bucks. The reviews are mixed but most agree they are not built to handle a large water/snow load.
I probably wouldnt mind paying a little more for a durable product but just have never used them
EZ-Up is good quality and the prices have been dropping the last few years. Can normally find them in an ad in the Sunday paper for $60-$80.
My advice would be to stay with the 10'x10' unit. Very easily set-up by two people but can be done by just one individual. Also the 10'x10' is light enough to carry and move by one person.
BK
I don't know what brand it is but we have a similar canopy. I have put it up by myself a few times. It actually belonged to my BIL who loaned it to us for a family gathering and then didn't want it back.
Thanks man. Went to the local store today and they matched the website. It will be nice to have some shade now that we are mighty close to triple digits
I have a 7 or 8 year old First Up (Walmart) 10x10 that has worked well.. I replaced it this year with a 12x12 EZ-Up and I really like the EZ-Up better...
I can see myself ending up with a 12x12 in the future but money is tight and that seemed like a good deal on a 10x10. Could damn near buy two of them for the same money.
In the next few years I plan on doing a lot more desert shooting and I think these things will prove to be invaluable

The first time it blows over and one of the legs bends you'll wish you bought the E-Z-UP.
I've seen those things cartwheel 100 yards across the fairgrounds without damage.
If the legs are staked or ballasted there is a huge amount of force exerted by the wind on the canopy (which is basically a big sail).
The cheap ones flex a lot and either pop a rivet or get so out of square that they won't collapse any more.
It doesn't take much bend for the legs to no longer drop free when you press the detent and that makes them a huge pain in the ass to erect singlehandedly.
And the detents tend to break or fall out of the cheap ones too. If you wanted to buy one that bolts together, you can get those from the start.
They are very much a "buy once, cry once" item and the E-Z-Ups rule the roost.
