Just take a standard woobie (poncho liner) and sew it to make a bag liner. I don't see why though. You can pick up a flannel zip up liner for $20.00 or so from Gander Mountain. I left my woobie alone as I took it out on patrols with me, stuffed in my butt pack. Funny, my dad dug it up and gave it back to me. It's all faded and well worn in. I got that thing new issued back in the early 90's. My daughter took one look at it and I haven't seen it since. She has claimed it as her own now.

If your looking for something light weight, and for warmer weather, just use a woobie and a gortex bivie cover. Crawl in there and spin yourself a cocoon. I still use that to this day, an old British issue bivie sack with my woobie. Ya just cant beat it.

Got a buddy who swears by the "two poncho liners and a bivy sack" method. He's spent a lot of time afield (both in the military and otherwise), and knows what he's talking about. Me? I still like my sleeping bags....

One poncho liner is enough even.

His philosophy is that a second poncho liner takes up airspace in the bivy, meaning your body has less air to heat up inside the bag, hence warmer.

I tried tracking down the Ranger Rick kit with no luck. I eventually was given his email address, and was given the advice to just Google: Sleeping bag repair zipper. For about $10 I picked up a YKK of the appropriate length. Last local gun show had liners for $10 in great shape, so I picked up 5 and now have one in every vehicle.

Up to you, just pointing out what someone who has been there and done that (many times) says (he's about 6'2" 210ish, so not far from your size). You're probably not wintering in the Balkans either...

i prefer to hibernate in the winter lol. i mostly do my camping and outdoors adventures in the warm weather so i dont need to be toasty, just comfy.

GI ggore-tex bivy covers can be found for $30-50. Much better than a poncho in colder/wetter weather. However, there is something to be said for multi-use items and the poncho wrapped around a liner and used as a sleeping bag certainly fits that bill.

I just wanted to post a pic real quick of the final product. I managed to get my sister in law to get some zippers from her work and sew them up. They will even zip up together to make one bag.

I just use a poncho liner inside a standard issue body bag. Works great.
