Any other Navy IRR guys get the "Feel free to volunteer to mobilize" e-mail ?

I got mine today. I did the on-line annual muster a couple weeks ago and was wondering if this was just a follow-up trolling for people to volunteer to mobilize. This is my first full year in the IRR after 17 years of active duty and reserve time. I'm still getting the hang of getting my points done and making sure everything is up to date.

I'm in the Army IRR, and a SFC recruiter actually came by my house the other day.

If I had received an email, and if they had an open slot for an ET2 in Kuwait, I'd be all over it!

You may be in luck. They're looking for any rate E-4 and up to work with US Customs inspection teams in Kuwait for a 12 month period. If you'd like, I'll forward the e-mail to you.

I appreciate the offer, but I've only got a couple months left on IRR, which is probably why I never got the email.

I'm not sure I could do the customs duty anyway...busting sailors, troops, airmen and Marines for trying to bring back a little something to remember Iraq by doesn't seem right to me. Now, if it were a force protection gig, I'd have no problem!

Just went from IRR to regular reserve; this is my first drill weekend.

This ex-ET2 got the "please update your contact information" letter back in 2001. I had spent a month and a half in the IRR before joining the WA ANG. When I updated the Navy with my new Air Force information, the Navy went batshit nuts telling me that they didn't have a DD368 on file for me and that if recalled, I had to go deploy with them. My CO and 1SGT had a problem with that.

The Navy finally sent me my Honorable Discharge certificate (suitable for framing) when it became clearly evident that I would show up to their muster in a USAF uniform.
