Would You Consider This Dude A fake SEAL?

I am a cleared Govt contractor and have been aquainted with a man for the past 1 1/2 years who is always dropping lines about "his time with the SEALS". He wears a Team 10 hat as well as a mini Trident on his ID lanyard, when I asked him about both items he told me they were "given to me by my boys in Team 10".
If he got someone who never was in the Military to listen to him he would lead you to believe he was an actual SEAL. But with those of us who are Veterans he always has a different tale to tell, the he "worked" with the SEALS, etc. The icing on the cake came 2 weeks ago when we had to come in on a weekend day to conduct inventory.
The dude shows up with an 80's era satin snap up jacket with "Bad Attitude" embroidered across the back as well as above the left breast. I had to leave a half day and missed his explanation of the jacket and I am glad that I did because I still would have been laying in our SCIF laughing my head off.
NONE of my 4 co-workers asked him about the jacket, they could have cared less. But he starts to tell them that he was a professional wrestler and Bad Attitude was his ring name. My oldest co-worker goes right to Google and can't find anything with this dudes name associated to any wrestler by the name of Bad Attitude. When this clown was confronted with that info his excuse was "I couldn't use my real name since I was associated with the SEALS". After that everyone got up from lunch and went back to work because they couldn't stand hearing anymore BS from this dudes mouth.
I've been put in contact with Capt (retired) Larry Bailey, a 20+year SEAL and he assures me this dude NEVER was a SEAL and he doesn't have the right to wear the Team 10 hat and the Trident. Capt Bailey has called the guys house several times and left messages but he won't return the calls. Capt Bailey is really pissed off because to him this dude is walking around with a SEAL hat and Trident pin making everyone thin he really was on a Team.
What does the Hive Mind think of this Sit-Rep? I can't get dinged with a snitch jacket if it's found out I dimed the poser out but I feel he needs to be taken to task by a REAL SEAL!

For the record, I was just a Law Enforcement Specialist in the USAF's Security Police career field from the early to mid 80's.

Post this on www.socnet.com under the Navy Seal verification thread. Give the moderators this tards real name and as much info as you can.

Also, ask him what his BUDS class number was. No SEAL ever forgets his class number.

I forgot to mention that this dude was in the Naval Reserves and was Supply. He never mentioned this to me, but to my manager, who was in Supply in the Army.

He may have worked with the SEALs as support but probably not a SEAL. I work with a retired guy who worked operations for the SEALs in Hawaii. He used terms like "my team", "my guys" etc., and talked about doing tactical training with the SEALs until I schooled him on the error of his ways. There are Army supply guys that work with/for the SF but are not SF. Looks like the same thing in this guys case.

If he hasn't passed BUDS, he never was a SEAL. Contact socnet.com.

I don't know enough about SEALS to speak intelligently on the matter but yes it sounds that way to me. You either went to BUD/S and earned a Budweiser or you didn't.

Buddy gives you a HSLD insignia, you put it on your bookcase in their honor. You don't wear it like you earned it.

My best friend was an Airborne MP with the 118th Airborne Corps. He sent me a shirt from his unit that had master parachutists wings on it. I was out one day with it on and a man approached me and asked if I was with the 118th and I said no, my buddy gave me the shirt. He then asked if I was ever Airborne and I said no, a leg USAF SP. He then told me to unass the shirt and I didn't have a right to wear it. After that day the shirt sat in a dresser drawer.

I was in Jump School out with my buddy in a local titty bar. Once I finished school I was headed to the 1st Bat and being full of myself, was sporting a Ranger Tab T-Shirt. A walking mountain approached our table and asked me when I went to Ranger School. After I told him my tale, he leaned onto the table putting his face inches from mine and growled, "if you don't take that shirt off right now cherry I will rip if off of your scrawny body and shove it up your ass".

THANK GOD I had an extra shirt in my car.

The walking mountain was a Ranger Instructor at the School and I still feel lucky to this day to be alive.

I'm gonna say he is a poser. I just looked on ebay (the devil), and I'm sickened to find anyone can purchase a Trident and a hat from any of the Teams without even being in the military.

I called him on the condition of his Team 10 hat, it was NASTY with sweat stains. I have a black ball cap with US Air Force Security Police and the SP shield on it. It gets washed monthly, maybe I am being anal, but I can't wear a nasty hat.

The former Commander of the VFW post I used to belong to constantly told people he was a SEAL in Vietnam and would flash his SEAL Association card as proof.

CyberSEAL helped me expose the lying POS.
