 AAFES PX/BX Gun Sells

I'm just wondering what the other AAFES stores are selling. I was surprised to see the assortment of guns we have in stock at our BX.
FN SCAR, M1A, AR-10, AR-15, AK-47, and Different brands of Bolt Actions and Shotguns. Then there are the pistols; Glock, Springfield, Colts, Ruger, a freaking Draco, and others including Hi-Points. A large assortment of ammo and mags for all of them.

It will definitely give the two local shops some competition. Walmart will probably still be the cheapest on some items, but you don't pay tax at the BX. The only thing I have to complain about is that they don't honor CWPs for background check substitution.

The lady behind the counter said local commander (Ft Belvior) doesn't allow AR-15s to be sold. They have a few S&WMP-22s and a good selection of handguns to include a SIG556 pistol and FN P90, but no ARs.

Hill Air Base has a fair selection as well, better than I initially gave AAFES credit for carrying.

Prices were just OK, but they had stock on the shelf.

Eielson has a decent selection and if they don't have what I want they will order it and I don't have to pay a dime unless I decide to buy it.

I stopped in at Nellis AFB a couple of months ago and was impressed with the number and type of weapons at the BX. Kel-tec RFBs, ARs, M1As, an assorted other weapons with a large selection of handguns.

Our BX just opened their gun counter last week. I was kind of surprised that being Wyoming, that they hadn't sold guns before this.

I heard the exact same thing, probably from the same lady, when I was at Belvoir a month ago. Fairfax County stupidity leaking onto post perhaps?

Bought my first pistol and rifle from a PX type deal on Ft. Wainwright, AK. They actually have a Sporting goods store, but I forget what it was called. Bought a Ruger KP944 and a Ruger 10/22.

Has anyone happened to see what the gun counter at the BX at Mountain Home is like? I'm Idaho ANG and I'd love to know if it's any good before I drive out there.

Passed through Ft Benning last month and it looked like their PX was getting ready to open up a sweet gun disply.

3 Rifle racks, 4 pistol counters and plenty of shelves for ammo mags and accessories.

Ft Knox has lots of goodies with a constant changing stock of pistols and rifles, with mags for all. Prices are sometimes good and sometimes bad.

Pistols can be bought on the spot with no waiting period, I think thats KY state law though.

Don't forget that they price match any brick and mortar store within a 30 mile radius.

Fort Hood has a good selection but their prices are too high. I can find anything they sell cheaper on the internet even if I add the $15 transfer fee I pay to my FFL dealer.

Most, if not all, gun stores in the Killeen/Fort Hood area have outrageous prices, the only advantage I see to buying on post is to save on the sales tax.

For instance, Glocks are in the $500+ range at the PX but I can drive an hour south to GT Dist. in Austin and get one with the MIL discount for $398 plus tax.

ETA: There is a Glock Dealer in Copperas Cove (5 min from Ft. Hood), Just Glocks, that may sell for the MIL discount price but I haven't checked.

Its not bad but not great. A good assortment of pistols; SA, Glock, Kimber, Ruger, Taurus, S&W, etc... Rilfes/shotguns; Ruger AR, S&W MP-22, Remington 700's, Ruger 10/22, Benelli nova, 870's.

The prices are about par with most gun shops , except the Taurus 1911 that they want $800 for when most other places carry it for $500ish

The Annex at Lejeune has a great selection. Problem is prices are too high, the best part of Lejeune was they did transfers for cheap.

The sporting goods store here at Camp Pendleton usually has a decent selection. Prices are okay, but with no sales tax it makes them a bit more competitive. I've also price matched a gun with a Turner's Sporting Goods flyer.

If they don't have it in stock they will order any gun that is carried by Gallery of Guns (provided it's Cali legal).

I was in there yesterday and their display case was a bit more empty then usual I think because of Christmas buying.

They had a couple Kimber .45, FNP-9, a few Glocks, a SIG or two, a few revolvers, a Beretta, HK .40, Colt .22 M4 clone, Socom .308, 6 bolt guns, 4-5 shotguns.

Also, they do sell ammo, but you have to ask as they keep it in the back.

FYI on the AAFES Facebook page they have a 25% coupon off any one item over $50 with max discount of $100, expires on 24 Dec.

Just have to print it and take it to the store. This could get you $100 off a gun.

Actually, now that i think of it, i went to visit a buddy in Parris Island and the big MCX there had a nice selection of AR's, WASR's, Arsenal AK's, PS90's, FS2000's, even some semi auto Mac 11's and Uzi's surprisingly. Prices were decent too. I bet all the Call of Duty wannabe recruits were wetting their pants.

Wait, there's a CGX in Traverse City? I grew up in Benzie County (two counties straight west) and still go up there a few times a year.

Ft Campbell has a pretty varied selection but you can almost always beat the prices off post. Ammo tends to be a few cents cheaper.

The Ft Carson PX began firearm sales last month. Much better selection than I thought they would have. Lots of black rifles & AKs and a decent selection of handguns.

More than likely at the AIRSTA. (and I'd bet he's dating himself, don't know how many CGX still have FFL's, I'd assume that Kodiak will always have one)

Checked on this with the Knox PX and they stated they won't honor price reductions for firearms. Nor will they do private transactions with their FFL.
Not a bad selection there. If I remember right Bragg had one of the better ones at their mall. Plenty of selection.

Same thing they told me at ft Campbell. They said it's a "specialty item"

Tinker AFB Exchange (Oklahoma City), which was the first DoD AAFES to get the new remode, recently opened their gun store. I was pretty amazed at the selection they had as far as guns and ammo given that the rest of the store before could hardly keep anything current or useful in stock. The gun shop is the hottest section of the store now and every time I make my usual trip in there during lunch they must be selling at least 2-3 guns. Damn place is usually overcrowded with retired fold though!#$!@#(

Couple guns on display or I've seen go in and out of the display:

HK USP, SCARs, Sig 556's, Desert Eagle, XDs, Colt M4, M&P rifles, Remington 700s, Thompson, Taraus, "The Judge", tons of M1A variants, Barrett 99A1, Sig Sauers, Dragunov, ...

They go through a bit of everything quickly. I just ordered a new Sig with the Exchange today, $40 cheaper than the cheapest off base retailer.

Ft Leavenworth PX selection was about the same as the others it sounds like. It does carry AR's. The prices were a mix. Some could be had for less than local prices, but many were too high. I could get some for less at local shops even once the tax was included. Just gotta research it first.
