A question for women who have been pregnant.
I had Congestive Heart Failure and waited too long to see a doctor, I blew up with over 40 lbs. of fluid. My calves grew huge, I developed a belly, and large "spare tire".
Most of the fluid is gone so I am left with loose skin, stretch marks, and horrible itchiness. I assume the itchiness is from the skin being dry, so I use a moisturizing lotion which helps a lot.
I'm wondering what I can do do help tighten the skin, maybe reduce the stretch marks, and get rid of the itching.
I'm asking here because I assume my condition is similar to what happens after a woman has her baby.
Thanks for any help.

My wife found breast feeding helped a lot.

To reduce loose, sagging skin and stretch marks?
I've yet to come across a lotion or ointment that will get get rid of stretch marks and as you lose weight, the more visible they will be.
The itching though, now that will massively decrease when you increase your water intake. And I mean, DRINK DRINK DRINK.
I am very sensitive to lotions and oils. The only lotions I can use that don't make me itch are hypoallergenic, non scented lotions.
I hope this helps. I've had two kiddos and was on bedrest with the second one. My body is a wreck since baby #2 even though I lost all the baby weight +20 lbs

NO!!! That sucks because I can't drink much. I am still on Lasix to get rid of the remaining fluid and have to keep water intake under 48 ounces per day

The itchiness is normal?
I'm uber sensitive and don't drink enough water so I always itch.

Try Crystal Light, it'll help you drink a lot more water. I buy the Walmart version for less money, and it has better flavors. Orange Early Rise tastes like Sunny Delight.

Only drink it if you know how your body reactions to things. Crystal Light has artificial sugars in it. It makes me sick as a dog.

Try cocoa butter, OP. Also, there are creams specifically labelled for reducing stretch marks. You can find it in the drug store or walmart with the rest of the hand lotions.

I would wonder about your liver if you are itching......
Just a thought.
What you experienced is unlike what a woman goes through in pregnancy.

I had blood work down often while in the hospital and last week at the doctors office, they never said anything about my liver so hopefully that's OK.
Liver trouble = itchiness?

Liver trouble does not equal itchiness but can be a cause.
If it was bad enough to cause itching your numbers would be off so hopefully they would have mentioned it.
Did you tell your doc that you are itchy?
Is a cardiologist or a GP managing your CHF?

A cardiologist. I did not mention the itchiness to him, I figured it was just because the skin stretched out. Lotion cures the itchiness.
Some of the medication I am on says side effects are rashes, hives, etc. so that may be playing a part into it as well.
Look into "It Works" it is a direct sales company that is very popular in this area right now. It is supposed to help reduce strechmarks and helps tone and tighten the skin. I have done a few of their wraps and could see a visiable difference in strechmarks and lost 2 1/2 inches in 45 minutes. It is supposed to be all natural but I would take an ingrediant list to your doc to double check. Good luck!
Maybe a drugstore topical like mederma? I've not tried it but I can say that good skin care (moisturization) and time will significantly fade them. By the time my kids were in preschool mine were very light... Thankfully... I looked like an atlas :(
