Were the logos painted on in Taiwan when the knives were made?
JLA  [Administrator]
5/29/2008 3:44:45 PM
The logos were laser engraved in the US.

Does the larger knife have an assited opening mechanism?

NM read it wrong, I assume both don't then.

you dont need any an assested open with these knives they open very fast with a little practece i have two and like them both. The only thing i dont like is the newer autolawks its a pain in the ass to close the knife.

The 14M's have the new AutoLAWKS system, but on these 12M's you have to manually slide the safety into place.

I can't find anything about "US Made" on the CRKT website, so I'd have to assume they're not since they'd probably advertise it. At least the AUS-8 is Japanese blade steel vs the Chinese steel on the cheaper models. ARFCOM needs to commission a custom Emerson design next!

I do not know for sure. But I know the vast majority of CRKT knives are made in Taiwan. Which is why I made my comment.

If these actually are made in the US, I may get one. Since nobody jumped in and hey "mjohn you are wrong", I am guessing Taiwan is correct.

They really aren't hard to close. Use forefinger to disengage autolawks and use thumb to release liner lock. Then you can let go with forefinger and close knife.

N.E.C.K.'s now available (again) in the store for pre-orders on the next batch, which is due in July along with a few new models .

Do I understand correctly they now auto-"lawk"? I have two with the old-style (non-auto), and several with none. A knife I have to finger-fornicate to close is as useless and one you have to do the same to open.

Ask CRKT to dump that stupid lock, and I want a bunch. Otherwise, nice knives.

It takes less than one second to disengage the autolawks.

Unless of course, a person lacks basic hand to eye coordination.

Since I've been carrying one version or another of CRKT's knives for about ten years, several without the lock, I think I have that part figured out, thanks. Just thought I'd ask. Of course, there are some special people who need safeties on their tools, I'm just glad they work for you.

I'd prefer the Lawks was manual, that said I've grown used to the auto-lawks and they don't bother me.

What that mechanism is, its just a small tab that backs up the liner lock, just below the pivot, under the handle scale. If it really bothers you, it could be removed or easily filed down to be non-operable. This won't harm the liner lock in any way. I haven't actually looked (compared a manual to an auto) to see if it could be made manual, I'm sure its possible, but probably not simple as the mechanisms seem to operate differently enough.

The next batch of N.E.C.K.'s is in production and should be here in September. We did incur an additional engraving fee, so the price went up $3, but these are still a great deal for a great little knife!

The other new styles will be added once received and pictures are available, if not sooner.

You just got the memo .

We had mentioned one or two of the new modles a while ago, but then ran into a glitch on the engraving. We got that all sorted out now, and will be posting pics of the new models as soon as they're in our hands.

The new models coming in are a KISS, Drifter Stainless, and Lake Laredo 2.
