Just watched Hamburger Hill over the weekend. A+ film.
It's an anti Vietnam movie about a guy in basic trying to get out.

This is the first thing that came to mind for me too.
First movie I remember that showed our troops as the honorable and effective fighting professionals that they were.
Films like FMJ, Apocalypse Now, etc... might have been entertaining, but were serious liberal jerk offs.
