Would you be legal making a purchase if the seller didn't tell you it was stolen govt property?
Obviously it would be illegal if you knowingly purchased govt property.

I'd love to buy some but it's not worth any hassle from the man.

There are ways to buy armor and other pieces of gear from surplus sales around mil bases. Chances are what you are seein is stolen stuff. I have bought 'lots' from gov auctions that had a plate carrier in it. Sometimes theses things get tossed in. But, mos of the Craigslist and BooKoo ads are stolen stuff. Alot of times it is CID or NCIS trying to catch people trying to buy stolen stuff. I would steer clear personally.

Thanks I thought it might be a little too good to be true.

I appreciate the insight.

Definitely take the good deal on the Peq-15 too

If it smells bad, you don't want to be part of it.
