Why do Eastern Europeans all have scars on their upper left arm?
Swindle1984  [Team Member]

Every photo I've seen of Eastern Europeans with a bare arm (ok, mainly it's Ukrainian porn ) has a scar on their upper left arm. The only time I've seen similar scars elsewhere are people who got the smallpox vaccine, like my parents.

So what vaccine/innoculation have Eastern Europeans been getting that leaves a scar, and why are they getting it?

I think the scars you are talking about are from the use of the injection "guns".

I've got a vaccine scar on my left arm from the smallpox shot I got as a kid...i'm 40 now. I know they stopped smallpox shots in the 70's I think.

Smallpox vaccine. I have one.
It was eradicated here sooner so you see less young people with them.

Probably smallpox vaccine, as mentioned earlier.

I was born in '71 and did not get one 'til Basic.

Was it the smallpox vaccine, or the old Polio before the sugar cubes?

If it's a smallpox vaccine scar, you must like the "older ladies."

I'm 35, and just missed that injection by about a year. Maybe they still do it in eastern Europe.

Cowpox innoculation. Used for smallpox vaccination...actually where the name vaccination came from...vaca is cow in Latin.

CDC in the US stopped recommending it in the early 1980s. Since Eastern Europe wasn't as sure of eradication, they continued on much longer.

We all have one here too. Smallpox vaccination.

Some people have two as they got a reinforcement in a different spot.

ETA: some years ago they stopped mandated vaccination.

Born 1980. I didn't get my small pox until last week. I'm still treating the wound and will be for weeks.

I don't remember the name of the vaccine off the top of my head, but it will result in a false positive on a TB skin test.

BCG vaccine for TB. It makes a little puss filled blister which leaves the scar.

I've got the smallpox vaccination and I've never had a false positive on the TB test.

My parents have them too.

Small pox. It was injected by some sort of gun they said.

Got the scar...found out that my family is naturally resistant to it - took four tries to get it to take.

And each time I went back to get it redone, they looked at my chart, looked at me, grinned, and hit me twice as many times as the time before.

If you have ever made a hole in dirt with a thin spade punched vertically....well, the fourth time, that's what my arm looked like.

Certainly to blame for the airgun injections and/or smallpox. Most Soldiers now have a scar there from the smallpox vaccine.

I am pretty sure the scar is actually from the vaccine not the injector, in the Army I got all kinds of vaccinations from those same air powered guns, and never got scars from them.

I know what it really is, the scar is from the Commie RFID chips!

I'm 39 now. Born in '70. I don't have the scar. Was told I was one of the first where I grew up.

IIRC, 1970 was the last year in the U.S.

In Canada where I grew up, the last year was 1971.

I have the scar on my upper right arm. Chicks dig it.

She has it.

She didn't think the "where they put the communism" joke was funny. I did.
