Put a few feet of coiled up copper tubing with one end on the can lid.....tightly fit of course.

Put the other end into a container.

Now heat the sterno.

I've ever tried this or even know if it will work......but it seems plausible.

Squeeze it through a rag. I'd tell you not to drink it because it's not grain alcohol, but in your case I think the damage has been done.

That's why the old, hard-core alkies used to call it "Squeeze" as in..."I been drinkin' squeeze all day ocifer!"

Back in the Thirties, the Hobos used to melt it and sift it through cotton balls to get the paraffin out of it. Don't ask how I know that.

A little off-topic; but in the same ballpark...

During the 20s, 30s, and 40s Marines stationed aboard Navy ships used to buy Aqua Velva from the ship's store. They'd sift it and drink it (since no alcohol can be aboard US Navy ships).

Knew an old drunk that told me long ago they would buy sterno and a loaf of bread(unsliced),cut the ends off the bread, stand it up verticaly pour the sterno in one end and catch the "squeezins" on the other end.
Hope this helps.

I always wondered why the DIs made us buy all of that Aqua Velva at the recruit PX.

Is this the old " block and tackle" fix? Drink the sterno run a block and tackle the nearest utility pole.

When I was stationed in ND in the early 80's I attended the Intoxilyzer Course with the ND State Police in Bismark. They took us around the slums where American Indians hung out and showed us hundreds of empty cans of Sterno. The Indians would squeeze it with a cloth and get the liquid and drink that. From what the Trooper told us by the time they got to that level of alcoholism they were so far gone that they would die in a few months.

Maybe they were hinting at it when they "accidentally" sprayed Aqua Velva into a recruit's mouth, and misted his face with Listerine (instead of the opposite).

Now that's just creepy.

Did they do that to you too or do you just remember that from when I posted about it months ago?

You can distill alcohol out of mouthwash by pouring it through a couple of slices of bread. Prisoners used to do this back in the day.

As for the sterno, I don't think drinking that alcohol will be a good idea.

I think it's in a DI manual somewhere . They did it to us before every major inspection, and they "accidentally" sprayed the obnoxious recruits in the wrong order.
