That must have sounded AWESOME

They're all controlled from the same central location. So, if the MCP fracks up, so does the whole display.
whoops

Yeah, looks like a control issue, not a oops, they all went off on the ground like this one:

Talk about your perfect timing......We were out watching other's money going up in smoke when a eletrical storm came through. What a show it was! Nature sure made man's efforts seem puny.
ccol, that was like a volcano

its a spin on an internet meme.
Clearly, it's Bush's fault!
Our fireworks show(Fairfax city) got about 1/3rd the way through with several lower than expected ones go off and then they stopped and said technical difficulties and killed the show.

"Oooooooohhhhhhhhhhhhhh you wanted those on delays?"

They avoided the whole overrated fireworks thing here in Montgomery County this year!

I hope Marco Gonzalez is still having an apoplectic fit over this.
I was watching TV with my GF. She had all of her dogs inside, as she's about a mile from a spot that normally has fireworks, and it scares her runty little non-dogs (Italian greyhounds, not foo-foo dogs, fortunately!). But those fireworks were cancelled, and I thought I heard the grand finale without any leadup, and thought it was weird. Oh well.

I didn't go to the show in my hometown but I talked to a guy that did and he said they had quite a few that barely made it off the ground before exploding. He said they didn't stop the show though.
I heard that from my house and thought "Isn't it a bit early for a grand finale?"
<–– Even more glad he didn't try to fight the traffic to get close to the bay.

They'll be talking' 'bout the show in '12 for the next twenty years.
I went to a show a week and a half ago. My estimated failure rate would be about 25%. Of the failures I'd say half went off in the tube. 25% less than 50' off the ground and 25% went up with no detonation. I was very suprised they didn't stop the show. Maybe some bad stuff going around this year?
28 minutes condensed to 28 seconds.
The "Master Arm" switch is not your friend...
That would be a fucking kick ass 9 seconds though!

So the City of San Diego is California? Or is California the City of San Diego?

No state money was spent on the show. The sponsors are listed here.

I heard a spokesman for Garden State Fireworks (wouldn't that be New Jersey?) attributing the event to a "probable computer glitch."
NO, NO,NO, THE OTHER RED BUTTON!!!!
you mean it wasn't suppose to be that awesome?
The electronic device that they program the fireworks into has a "auto' button? Who knew

Fixed it
I didn't know fireworks controllers had a "happy switch"....learn something new every day

That was honestly the first thing I though of. It really isn't that hard of a mistake to make since many timers (in code) use milliseconds but some use seconds. It makes a very, very big difference in the end result

It's always some mundane detail.
I just heard on KPBS-FM that Garden State Fireworks is saying it was a software issue but "not human error."
Riiiiiiight.
