If group beat downs on a person warrant lethal force, why aren't participants charged that way?
If the object of a beatdown is to do severe bodily harm with a decent chance of killing the recipient and I can pull out a gun to end the altercation by killing as many of them as needed, why aren't these beatings charged as Attempted Murder or something similar?
I have to say as a citizen in an urban area I am concerned-you never know what sets a pack of these hyenas off. I'm not an MMA fighter, I'm not 7 feet tall, and I don't always get to carry a gun. As a society we better get a handle on this problem before it becomes more common than it is. 3 on 1 isn't mutual combat (unless the guy asks for it), and in the videos I have seen the people doing the beating see it as some kind of entertainment with uninvolved bystanders taking part some times. Fuck that shit, every one of those guys should be doing HARD time. They are a greater risk to society for shitting a dude up in a parking lot than a drug dealer or non-violent offender.
Certain protected classes seem more likely to engage in group beatdowns than other nonprotected classes on whom they tend to serve these group-beatdowns.
