If you were going to hire someone to clean your house on a weekly basis, how much do they charge in your area?

Depends on the outfit.

How big is the house? How much do you want them to do?

We have about 2k sq ft of our place cleaned weekly for $60.

My wife has a gal that comes by and spends a couple or three hours once a week and she does a bang up job for $60 a week. Floors, bathrooms, kitchen, windows, and whatever other little shit they do.

typically 2 or 3 of them come in at the same time.

They're out in 1 - 2 hours

ETA - it's like anything else, time is money. 3 of them in an hour is $20 per. The woman that runs the business probably pays them 12-15

We have a woman in every other week. Mops, vacuums, dusts, changes the linens, etc, etc, etc.

3000 sq ft, $20/hr, and she's usually done in 6 hours.

Ms Diesel does free-lance housecleaning. She tries to price it at $25/hr., which includes travel time and cleaning supplies. I've told her most people don't want to hear an hourly rate, as they prefer to just know the bottom line. And I'm sure some don't like the idea of a cleaning lady "making" $25/hr.. She will figure the hours needed, possibly do a first cleaning by the hour, and then flat rate it. She can do an average house in 4 hrs. so she'll quote $100 if it looks average.

She worked for Merry Maids long ago. You might like to know they pay the workers piece rate. At the time, it was about 41% of the job rate. So that $100 job would pay $41 for two girls to split. Good deal.......for the cleaning service. Not so much for the workers and customers. Merry Maids would probably quote that 4 hr. house at $150 or more though. Her experience at Merry Maids opened my eyes to how much even some middle class people will pay to have their house cleaned

I pay $100 but she has to maintain the supply stock. If I am low on laundry detergent then it's her responsibility to resupply next visit

Pretty small business, they all know each other personally. Owner is in Nursing schools after having done this with them for a while.
She might.

Molly maid - not so much.

I am sick of needing to clean the house and not doing it. I have been considering hiring someone but I have trust issues. Do these agencies generally have upstanding employees who have been thoroughly checked out?
I don't want the cleaning lady telling her shitbag boyfriend about things to steal, camera locations, when I am gone from home, etc.

Hire someone you know?

I used a real company once, they did pretty good. But I found out that a few of my females friends were cleaning on the side so I opted for them for a while, rate was bout $20 an hour.

How big is your home? I have a cleaning crew come in bi-monthly at $110 a pop but that's 4200 sq/ft. Might sounds expensive to some but it's more than worth it not to scrub toilets, showers and tubs plus mopping and dusting. When they finish my place is as clean as an operating room.

The best way is through references. I found a cleaning lady through a friend with a net worth well into the 8 figures. If she hasn't screwed him, she likely won't be screwing me with my 1800 Sq. Ft. rental and -6 figure net worth.

She charges 60 bucks for four hours. For the price, I'm surprised there isn't a huge cottage industry built to serve the poor barracks creatures every thursday aboard Camp Pendleton.

My wife cleans a couple of houses in the neighborhood. She charges $50 for a 2000 square foot house (the common size in our neighborhood). She brings her own supplies and usually finishes in about 2 hours. This is purely house cleaning (not doing laundry or changing linens).

Damn that's a good deal I would gladly pay that for my 825 square foot house.

I would have to clean everything first to make it presentable for the cleaning lady

That is a damn good deal. The problem I've found is finding a cleaning lady that's consistent. The wife and have used a couple of services and about a hale dozen ladies before we found one we really liked. In fact, when we moved we hired the woman that we really liked to clean on her own time and not go through the company. It's cheaper for us, our cleaning lady cleans on Sat morn which works out better and she gets to keep all the money so win-win.

We've used this woman, (her husband or two children help,) for 3 yrs now and have zero problems. She a fantastic cook and she brings us food sometimes, (Mexican of course.) They clean everything including changing linens, washing clothes, mopping and polishing wood floors and etc. it took me a long time to convince my wife to let someone come in and clean but now she would do without a lot to keep paying them.

OP, I would suggest you maintain OPSEC no matter who you get to clean.

It depends on the size of the house and what has to be cleaned.
Also there is additional costs for laundry, windows, and absolute filth.
Average 3 bedroom 2 bath home is 100 per week.

1600 sf here, every two weeks, $75...done in two hours. I keep the cleaning supplies up, and I'm pretty tidy, so she doesn't have to work hard. I hate base boards and dusting.

90$ every 2 weeks here 3800 square feet, 4 bathrooms everything cleaned. She does a great job was referred to us by a friend takes her anywhere from 3-4 hours depending on how much coffee she has had that day.
