Worth it for a 2009 GMC 2500 HD CREW CAB long bed 4x4

Hauling bikes and a little exploring. No lift and stock tires for the time being.

@$200 ea.

How much improvement in ride over stock.?......for those that have tried them...

No, go with the 5100 or Rancho 9000s... If you must get the Fox monos that are tuned for ur truck.

Off roading where you'll actually heat up the oil, they work great, on the road, meh, you'd never notice it and a waste of money. I just run RS 9000s, so fat so good, I do adjust them depending on what kind of driving I do.

Which ones, the 7100s or the 5150 piggy-backs?

Do you need a severe duty shock?

If not, your not going to need them.

Unless you are a professional race truck driver, dicking around out in the desert, you won't notice any change other than a softer or stiffer ride.

Absolutely not worth your money for what you are doing. Just get a set of quality OEM-replacement shocks.

I disagree with all those posting here.

After eating the Rancho 9000s in about 12 months of driving, and three sets of Bilstein HDs, I installed a set of 7100s that I custom-valved for my truck.

HUGE difference in on-road performance, and going on three years still working fine, with plotted curves on my shock dyno very close to when I freshly built them.

Now, it is softer, so if you think a lot of low-speed compression damping is equivalent to "better-handling" you'll be aghast.

But I'd absolutely do it again.

I also have two rebuild kits for each shock, and two gallons of shock oil, plus the nitrogen adapter for when it's time to rebuild them.
They are extremely easy to rebuild, so basically they have a much longer service life than any comparable shock.

The Fox and King shocks i have on other projects (and OME on the Landie) are very different beasts.

I have fox 2.0 res shocks on my Jeep XJ and I LOVE them. parts are cheap and easy to upgrade/valve/rebuild etc. Being able to valve the shocks is everything. for stock height mostly street truck blah.

Yes and no, does the op plan to rebuild and valve the shocks and fine tune?
