ETA - I'm a fan of Brother, too, but this particular model seems like a bargain for home use.

My wife has been more than pleased with her Dell Office laser printer. I think the quality is GREAT, and I told her to make the purchase after reading the many great reviews on it at the time.

If you want high speed black and white only, I have a Brother for work that is great. Don't know the model, though. It's fast and wireless, though.

Brother makes some nice all-in-on printers with duplex scanning and printing. I have a MFC 9840CDW but I believe it's since been replaced by a newer model in their lineup. It's helped me go "paperless" at home since now I can scan in all my bills and other important documents to PDF...backed up regularly of course. You should be able to get something like this for $600ish

Yes, another vote for Brother. I used to be an HP Fan-boy. But I bought a 5370 DW for the wife's office, and it has been awesome. Churning out 300+ page manuscripts double sided over the wireless network, with out batting an eye.
