Hedy Lamarr: Beauty and Brains... Why don't they make them like this anymore?

Hedy Lamarr, arguably the first mainstream actress to appear completely nude in previous films in her native Austria, was so inexorably a genius with a body to go with her intellect.

So this hottie is making a few movies a year with MGM, and decided she can help her new country in the upcoming war. She and a composer George Antheil develop in June 1941 technology so revolutionary, it changed the world we live in to its very foundation. Read the patent here! Its the technology behind how cell phones work. Really cool stuff and way before its time.

Anyway, some pics of this brains and beauty.

(and by the way, the movie you may or may not be googling for now is called Ecstasy, Extase, Ekstase, or Symphonie der Liebe. You're welcome! )

Y'all must be gay, cause that sure ain't the first thing that came into my head when I thought of this hot dame. In fact, I don't even know what on earth you're referencing here.

Who knows how to party?

You are right OP she is gorgeous. The Hedly thing is a reference to Blazing Saddles and is repeated several times throughout the movie.

Really an important invention for which she and her co-inventor received little attention at the time - only after the war was the idea utilized to revolutionize electronic communications.

I'm loving that bullwhip pic.

Veronica Lake was rockin' hot, too.

Funny thing is she actually sued Mel Brooks over the use of her name in Blazing Saddles. Brooks didn't fight her over it. He settled with her.

Shame she didn't really get the recognition she deserved, although different times back then. Very cool info however.
