Getting in to the Houston Zoo for Free - the Loan Star Card way.

Ok, so I decided I wanted to take the kids and wife to the zoo since it is sub 100degrees today, but San Antonio's zoo sucks. I figured, well it is a Saturday and we have nothing planned so we will make a road trip out of it and go to the Houston Zoo. So I go to their website to find out their pricing and hours which comes out to $40 for the 5 of us, which is actually pretty cheap. Then underneath the hours and pricing is an exemption.

Loan Star Admission:

The Houston Zoo’s Lone Star Card admission program allows free Houston Zoo admission for card holders receiving SNAP and/or WIC benefits only. Admission to the Houston Zoo is free (limit 5 persons - 2 adults/3 children of the same address household - per visit), for residents presenting their valid current award letter (letter must show benefit start date and benefit end expiration date) and a valid photo ID for both adults (Texas Drivers License or Texas Department of Public Safety photo ID card ONLY) to confirm card holder status and same address household. The Lone Star Card holder of record must accompany their party. Tickets issued day of visit only; no advance tickets will be issued. Offer not valid for ticketed special events.

Why would welfare whores ever want to work? Anything they want to do they can get for free.

(And by welfare whore, I mean the people that make a life off it, not the ones that use it for a short period of time to get back on their feet.)

It pisses me off when I see all these welfare leaches walking into the Smithsonian museums for free

Really though, the free zoo admission w/ food stamps does seem a bit odd

They should be giving free admission to those who can show a tex return and W-2 Lacking those, you put in a days work and then you get in.

I wouldn't worry about that. The majority of scum that live off of welfare wouldn't be able to scrounge up the necessary documents.
Those people treat important documents like they're candy bar wrappers.

At the end of the day it is just yet another reason why the entitlement class will never strive to be better. Why aim high, when you can aim low, and get everything you want for "free". Oh and lets not forget that, since I disagree with these types of policies I am a racist, bigot, and privileged.

Here is what I find interesting. I have been flat out told I am better off today because I am white. HA!!! Really? At 18 I moved out of the house and my wife to be and I made the mistake of not protecting ourselves and had a child. Honest to God, that baby was a miracle and the only motivation I have ever needed to succeed. Next Wednesday I will turn 30. In the past 12 years I have worked full-time, gotten married, had 3 children, gone to school and completed a undergraduate and graduate degree. For those that say I am privileged, they are right. I have a awesome family and have already started living the American dream. For those that choose to live off welfare and call me a racist and a bigot. I am not a racist, I am prejudice. These are not the same thing, and I am only prejudice against lazy low life pieces of $#1t that do not give a F**k about this great country, those that have fought for our freedoms, or the value of hard work.

OK. That is my rant for the day. I feel much better now.

The Houston Zoo really isn't that great.

In case you haven't noticed it, they don't want to work. The vast majority are quite happy getting free cheese from the goobermint and hanging out with their buds. At least when they're not busy creating the next generation of leeches.

And I thought I got where I did in life because I worked hard and made something of myself. Who knew I would have been just as successful just because I'm white?

Of course tax dollars go to most zoos, but if they don't charge at the gate then people who don't go pay more.

How about they make them sweep cages or pick lice off monkeys or something for a couple hours, it's not like they're doing anything else with their time... wtf

It's 10000x better than the SA Zoo I went to 20 years ago, I went over old pics from a family trip there recently and it looked like an animal concentration camp

Yea. It is bad. Actually makes me miss the OKC zoo, which is pretty nice.
