SKS in wooden crate gun case.

Electrical Chick wants me to buy an sks her deceased father gave her, she says its in a wooden crate that is designed for one rifle.

Evidently her father told her to never sell it, but she knows nothing about it and only likes hunting rifles.

Any weird rare expensive sks variants out there? Never heard of one in a single wooden crate just like 8 per crate.

Not enough info to even start.

NEVER SELL IT may mean its a bring back and a custom case was made for it. If it is, I would tell her such and its now part of ther family history and she could keep it and cherish it like her father did.

But if its just a retail chicom or russian SKS I would make a fair offer for it.

There were/are some guys who fuck up SKS's and SVT's by refurbing the wood and metal and hocking them in guns mags with cases for massive amounts of money. The rifle sounds like one on them.

Likely a scoped "paratrooper" model. The case should be green with a Chi-Com star on top of it. If complete with scope/mount/goodies (rifle has a attached side-base) they are the most valuable of the commercial made for export SKSs. $500 at least.

A short barel model was never made in China. They were converted in California post import from standard models. Most were done well enough to pass for factory.

Any SKS thats not Tapco or bubbafucked is worth around $300 now.

If by some chance its a documented bringback, and I do mean documented not just "i cant find import marks" then its worth $1000+ depending on what it is.

Either way, she will sell it to someone, and it might as well be you. If she is looking to sell, that desire can only be temporarily swayed by you. Just buy it.

Correct but did I say they were made that way in China? Spliting hairs ain't you.

There were also full length "sniper" models in the green wooden box. I bought a short one in the 80's from Navy Arms in WV. Poor shooter.

Are you kidding? ALL of the SKS rifles that are around here are $500 + in pawn shops and gun shows.

Should have pics tonight after work. Not sure on price, she doesn't seem to be the type that needs money, and she's actually pretty fucking cool for a Chick on a commercial job site.

A gun show marking prices of guns way through the roof? That never happens! Gun shows are always cheaper

WOW! I guess my early (60s) non-import marked M21 SKS was a steal at $325.00.

All jokes aside a common PLA or commercial SKS brings around $300.00 +/-. What with Navy Arms selling them by the crate for $60.00 a pop back in the late 80s in my area there are lots of them still around. I bought a couple of crates of them myself back then. Sadly many you see now for sale have been Tapco screwed.

Not until someone commits a crime with it. (oh and you have to lay it on a table with a few magazines, to increase effect during the news conference)
