The Mid Atlantic Air Museum in Reading PA is celebrating the 20th year of its WWII weekend, and this years show looks to be better than ever.

1800 reenactors, loads of WWII class III goodness, tons of vintage planes (last I was told 9 P-51's, 3 B-17's, 3 B-25's, a Lancaster, and much more), military vehicles, and far more. It is total immersion WWII.

June 4-5-6 at the Reading PA airport.

WIll be there as I have every year since I found out about it. The first person accounts of their war experiences, given by the veterans themselves, are very moving. If you have an interest in this period of history, you need to attend.

I swear I'm going to make it there this year! I only live an hour away and meant to go two years ago but want to take my wifes WWII vet grandfather and it was like 95 degrees the whole weekend and then last year my son was born.

This year I am going and think I'm going to spring for the B17 ride too.

If you want a B17 ride, reserve it now as last I heard they were selling out fast.

P-51 rides are also available

I live about 5 minutes away from here. Always nice to see the planes flying around in my backyard. If you get a chance to go, don't miss it.

Belay my earlier request, online, phone, and mail tickets are no longer available.

I'm not going to go that far to hope that I can score tickets, so maybe next year.

Enjoy it, if you are going!

Wow! That would be an awesome event to attend, however, the furthest I've driven for a WW2 event was TOccoa, Ga. at the request of the Stephens Co. Chamber of Commerce, who requested that our reenactment group be present for the dedication of the new wing of the Camp Toccoa Museum.

I am on the far left, with the Mohawk.

Me with Colonel Edward Shames (commander of E Co. 2/506th PIR after Maj. Richard Winters became XO of the regiment).

Me with Private Jake McNiece; original member of the "Filthy 13" and the guy that came up with the famous haircut I sport.

Me with Lt. Reed Pelfrey of the 502nd PIR and OSS.

I love these events; getting to rub elbows with real men of courage is a rare treat; it humbles me to be in their presence and to learn from them.

Don't sweat getting in, 90% or better of tickets are sold at the gate. They just cut off mail order in time to make sure everyone gets theirs in the mail.

As for hotels within 30 minutes, all I can say is if you find a vacancy book it. The one we stay out starts taking reservations 10 months out, and this year I forgot and called at 9 month 3 weeks out and they had 1 room left.

I have been looking at this thread for a few days and I have to ask. Is this a woman? I don't mean any disrespect or anything like that but I just can't figure it out.

BTW, one on the left with the long braid seems pretty hot. I call dibs.

ETA: Cool pics OP. I like them a lot.
