Video Embedding with Old School Editor.

I like the simplicity of the old school editor and if I'm not in a thread that requires embedding, I don't switch.

Can we add an embed to the regular editor??

I'll bump my own thread in hopes of a Site Staff response.

Seriously though, the new editor is entirely too complicated. The [div] stuff is impossible to separate and quote and the quote boxes are a pain in the ass to edit.

The old school editor is divine in it's simplicity. The code is easy to manipulate and easy use.

The only redeeming factor of the new editor is the ability to embed video, so if you post in the "Your Favorite Blah Blah Video" threads, you have to go to your profile and change the editor to the new editor, then post the videos, then go back and change it back so that simple post and click is reasonably easy.

I think if the user was able to embed with the old school editor, the old editor would be the bee's knee's.

Or at least have a way to quickly toggle back and forth between editors would be nice.

+1. I have the embed code written down on a sticky note. The new editor screws everything up when you're trying to quote stuff. Get rid of the dang ol email address insert and swap it for the video embed. When's the last time you've ever seen someone purposely "make hot" an email address in a thread?

When Goatboy first did embeding, there was a link in the old editor. Let me see if I can do it... BRB.

Videos embedded with the WYSIWYG editor:

ETA:
Ok, no link in the old editor. But here's the flash code. Lets see if it works:
<<flash width='800' height='450' src='http://vimeo.com/moogaloop.swf?clip_id=13231916&server=vimeo.com&show_title=0&show_byline=0&show_portrait=0&color=FB821F&fullscreen=1'>>
Replace the <</>> with single square brackets.

Anymore thoughts on this?

It's pretty irritating and if the generic board code used on thousands of other forums with "Forum in a Can" can be as simple as it can't be too hard.

I agree with this.

I like the simple editor, and it's what I use every day. However, a "video embed" link in the simple editor would be fantastic.

I agree, this need to be added to the old editor. I have to run it due to the fact my droid only allows me to post while using the old editor.

tags work on 95% of the rest of the interwebz. Why not here?

It would make life simpler.

Since you're a team member, you can do it in the standard editor. I did a video on this:

Thank you very much, GoatBoy! I used to have to either switch editors, or copy and paste the code that Tony-Ri provided in his little tutorial from my previous video posts. This makes it soooo much simpler. Thanks again!
