I have 2 stainless (I think they're stainless) 1/4 kegs with the ball valve that I bought full from the liquor store. Is it possible to use those for my homebrew?

Do they have a single inlet/outlet or two separate outlets? If two you can store and dispense and with a bit of work you can even ferment in it. Pic MIGHT help.

Yes, you can use them. There are instructions on the web for how to dismantle the valve for cleaning and filling.

Note that legally, unless you purchase them they are not yours. Just putting the deposit on them does not make them yours. That said, I have 4 half barrels that may or may not be legally gotten. Lets just say that I didn't buy them from the brewery or party store, I don't know about the guys that I got them from...

I honestly don't know. I bought them from the Shoppette on base and walked out with them. No mention of deposit or anything.
