Building a Keezer. Bought a Kenmore 8.8 freezer, ranco temp controller, and I have 4 corny kegs. I also have a 5lb Co2 bottle, 4 way manifold, and all the hook ups.

I want to avoid a collar, to prevent my kids from screwing with the taps. I want to build a coffin but I am not sure if I will have the room.

I will update as I progress.

I say build the collar, put the taps on the front, then either put tap locks on them or disconnect the outputs inside the keezer. Then put a lock on the outside to prevent opening.

Another thing that is making me not want to go with is that the taps would be exposed to the main traffic area through the garage. I am afraid the taps would get ran into while carrying something.

That happened to my neighbor a couple weeks ago. He's got his 1/2 barrel Bud Light kegerator in the garage. A ball or something got thrown into the garage and hit the tap. He came out later to find all of his beer running out of the garage!

I have a very active garage and my keg taps point toward a high use door. Never have got caught on them once in 10 years. No kids around, however.

I have made mine out of a refrigerator twice now. Having the extra freezer space and and ice maker in the garage is priceless. I have two taps on the side with a drain pan.

(I have a Sanyo keggerator in the kitchen too.)
