do you hang out with your lodge brothers?
i have met so many men that more or less go to lodge twice a month and never really associate with their brothers outside of lodge. i have several guys i talk to several times a week and hang with outside the lodge frequently.
i believe it makes the lodge stronger if real freindships are built as well.
My best friend is in my lodge and we hang out all the time. But we have a really old lodge, I am youngest at 33. My friend is next at 40, then we hit mid 50's. But we all get together for lunch and stuff along with shooting and fishing.

No, but not because I don't like them. I go to Lodge once a week and see the "usual suspects" then, which is more often than I see other friends. So even though I don't "hang out" with them, I do at Lodge.
I think part of it is the fact that there is a wide spread of ages in our lodge. I'm 62, but we have quite a few in their 30's and 40's, all the way up to the upper 70's, so that's more of a reason than any that we don't socialize a lot outside of the Lodge.
Masonry really isn't a social fraternity, but we certainly don't discourage it.
I was Worshipful Master of my Lodge at 27. At that time, there were no other 20s, no 30s and 2 upper 40s. Real gathering at the upper 70 to 80 range.
Now, I'm 35 and there are SEVERAL members younger than I, and even more around my age. We do hang out. We have a really good group of guys. I mean, really good. We have been blessed with an aweful lot of work the past several years.
We are still kinda light with officers in line, but that's improving.
i have become pretty good friends with several of the "old" guys in the lodge. it took me some time to gain their trust but now i hear from a couple of them a couple of times a week just to BS.
one thing i have learned here is there is no generation gap other than what WE impose on ourselves. these old guys used to raise hell like we do now, still enjoy a good joke, and appreciate good friends. getting to know these guys outside lodge has really been a cool thing.
Although I'm probably considered "older" by some of the guys, I really get a kick out of the Brothers older than I - those in their 70s. They are the really loyal ones, the ones you can always count on to show up. A good part of our stated meeting attendance is made up of PMs, a DDGM, and a PGM, and several of those white cap Scottish Rite. Even when Lodge is open, although a little subdued compared to the outside ribbing, they all give each other some crap now and then, jokes like having TWO 50-year pins, laying the cornerstone for the pyramids and leaving a tip at the last supper. Pretty cool guys all in all.
All the time. Our lodge organizes a few events every year for family attendance, and brothers get together at various times just to be friends. They're trying to get more things going on, after a bunch of brothers suggested monthly events and got volunteered to arrange them. One of the things will be a trip to Coral Castle in Homestead, which I will definitely attend. Another will be a shoot.
I like my lodge.

A group of us go to weekely lunches, ride motorcycles, and go to the range.
I do with one brother. we went through the degrees together. we have gone shooting and to the NRA show. We also help out another older brother on his farm.
Raised in April 2011 so I think I'm still proving myself, the Brother I was raised with does contact me regularly just to BS.
The recent Masonic picnic appeared fruitful in regards to new friendships.
Yes. Family bbq in the park, Rainbow Girl and DeMolay dances, cookouts, and general get togethers, and this past Wednesday a few of us went to the range. I see more of all of these in the future.
Yeah...most of my lodge consists of in-laws, so my wife makes me hang out with them.
I have not been accepted as of yet but I regularly go to the range with 2 of my (hopeful) future brothers and another is one of my FFL's. I do not see that changing any time soon

All my best, closest friends are my brothers. I really don't hangout with anyone else.
