Masonic Jewelry: recommendations/suggestions/etc.
I got my ring from a thrift store when I was raised, it was used and the metal was already worn thin. I'm thinking about getting a new one and wondered if anyone has experience with online stores. I might be able to find 1 or 2 styles at local jewelry stores but they're usually pretty limited and well above what I want to spend. With gold being so high right now I'm thinking sterling silver, tungsten, or titanium.
I've bought a few emblems from
http://www.klitzner.com/, they seem to be pretty good as far as I can tell. But I'm a little more cautious with $400+ ring than a $3.50 auto emblem.
Well there are many a fancy MM rings out there, but my money is going to

I will make you the ring and send it to you. If you like it send me $105, payable to Gordon Spurlock, and if you don't like it just send it back. You can POST DATE your check up to 30 days, put a note with it, I will not cash it till then.
I would give them away if my wife would let me but she won't and she says "How do you know they will pay you?" and I tell her "I am dealing with Brother Masons (and it's in our obligation)" and she walks off mumbling to herself something about a cult.
I have tried to make it as easy as I can for you to have one of my rings and if you can think of anything I have missed please let me know. I am now 70 years old and I have slowed down a lot but I will get your ring in the mail in about two weeks
Again, please call me if you have any questions about the rings or we can just BS!
Nice stuff there. I especially like these -

My wife bought mine from JC Penney (and he was a Mason). I can't find them online, might need to check a printed catalog.
Try
J. P. Luther.
I got both mine and my son's from there.
I work part time at a jewelry store and sometime people come in and scrap Masonic rings. A 14K one was scraped about a month ago and a good brother was able to buy it for $325.00. A 10K was in there for $250.00 so if anyone wants me to keep a eye out just shoot me a P.M. And I will let you know when something comes in. We also take in other Masonic items from time to time so if anyone is looking for something let me know..

I have had one of Gordons hand made rings for over a year and they are almost indestructable. Beautiful rings and a bargain compared to anything else. A good and honorable brother.

Brother Gordon answers emails pretty quick. I'm going to order one of his, but at that price I can keep looking for others.
I wish I knew what size fingers my sons will have in a few years so I could buy them a ring now.
I have one of the stainless steel rings for everyday wear. It'll definitely take a beating, and keeps me from destroying my "fancy" Scottish Rite ring.

I found my grandfathers(mothers side) at my grandmothers house after she passed away. My dad still has my other grandfathers, but sadly will not turn loose of them even though he is not a mason and has no intentions of joining. Family is a good source if you are lucky.
Another good source are pawn shops, and jewelery stores that carry used jewelery.
I have one that I am thinking of selling, or maybe trading on another one. It has the Blue Lodge, Scottish Rite, and Shriners on it. Did I fail to mention that it also has 1/2 carat of very clear diamonds as well.
I did order one from Gordon. It's nice dealing with a brother rather than a jeweler that happens to have a few rings.
As I said earlier, though: I'm still in the market. I'd like to have a hefty gold ring for formal occasions, as well as a couple spares for my sons. I suppose I'll buy them new rings to present to them in Lodge, unless my father-in-law (the only older mason in the family) beats me to it.
My side has a long history of BPOE membership - which would make total sense to any who knew my fathers family and the tendency of Freemasons to not imbibe excessively. But it makes it hard to pass down meaningful masonic objects.
I have one of Brother Gordon's rings, and I love it.
With the price of gold, now, I do not foresee a gold heirloom ring in the near future, but I need two of them, as, hopefully, my sons become Freemasons as well.

+1 on Br. Gordon's rings.
i have 3 none of them expensive.
sterling silver from ebay about 35.00 shipped.
scottish rite ring from tungsten treaures. i think it was 75.00
my favorite is one my wife bought me last week at a craft show.... 5.00 no idea how long the "gold" will last on this one.

I got a couple of Tungsten rings from Amazon, just out of curiosity. Heavy suckers, and the etched symbol is pretty low key.
This isn't bad, the repetition makes it a bit more visible.
This is what I'm wearing now. I want the reminder to conduct myself appropriately, so the fact that probably no one else will notice it is ok.
Still waiting on the steel ring. Not going to bother him with questions, and I'm happy to get it whenever he gets it to me.
the tunsten ring i have is laser engraved and very detailed. that said it does not "stand out" on the ring.
Apparently I was "still waiting" for the mail to show up. My Gordon Spurlock ring just arrived. Looks great!
yup he makes nice stuff. several of the brothers here have bought from him.

Just got some cufflinks and studs from Luther and they look great and were VERY affordable. I think the links were $18 and the studs $20.
I am going to contact Br. Gordon and see if he can engrave me one with the Scouts flier-dis-lis with compass and square.

Brother John Morrow in Houston TX made my ring, and it's OUTSTAND!!!
http://store.jemsbyjem.com/info.html
I still have not found a ring that i like and can afford. I need an everyday ring and want to spend less than $350. the Spurlock and Jemsbyjem rings have glued on toppers and they look like the same rings anyway and the websites are identical..... that makes me wonder. Several of my brothers have them and reported to me that the glue melts when exposed to solvents. I work with solvents.
I found a guy who makes cool rings, and i'm still thinkin on it.
http://www.mastersjewel.com/catalog/index.php there is a vid on that page of him making the casts and finishing the rings.
Then i found this company,
http://www.topasio.com/Sterling-Silver-Masonic-Rings-s/224.htm?searching=Y&sort=13&cat=224&show=12&page=1 who sells nice rings at good prices too.
I also need a ring that is made in the USA and can be verified as such.
When I got married, it took me over 6 months to find the perfect band, so my search continues for the perfect Masonic ring.
Glad to have found this thread, it has some good ideas. But being new, I still have a lot to learn.
I do have some question that I was wondering though...
Once raised to MM, is it mandatory to purchase a ring?
When wearing the ring, where is proper placement for it?
What depicts what color the stone should be or if there is a stone?
Sorry if these sound stupid, but they are just things I wonder.

When wearing the ring, where is proper placement for it? I wear mine on my right ring finger. Others wear one on a pinky. No set place.
What depicts what color the stone should be or if there is a stone? Whatever your preference. Don't get one with a smiley face.........yet.

Don't get tungsten! Unless you want to buy them every other month or so..
why? mine has held up fine
There is a seller on e-bay that I like called
ProLine Designs. They do a lot of work in sterling silver.

It "just happened". sorry, no cool story....
i am thinking yours had some forging issues somewhere down the line. i have never seen a ring do that. my tungsten SR ring has held up just fine with daily wear.

TC is pretty fragile and if you smack your hand enough times on something hard, it will crack. Look on you tube for vids. they show you how to get one off in an emergency and it requires vice grips.

Where did you get your titanium ring? That is all I wear.

Funny you said that, I got the ring pictured from "Tungsten" treasures, out of (I think) SC. The guy was an active service fellow and I also believe a mason (but I didn't ask). He was very nice, and was a proper person. My ring "breaking" was not his fault or should reflect poorly on his business.
My Ti ring I got from my best friend, who spends to much time on e-bay. It's a beater ring for work. One day I'll get something nice...
I have purchased two ring from the masters jewel a brotherhood ring and a templer seal ring both are very nice. The brother hood ring is white Gold i spent some money on it hoping one day it will get passed to future generations. It really stands out I had a diamond from a diamond ring my mom gave to my dad ( both deceased now) placed in the center. I Iike his designs they are a little different but they draw attention which I'm proud to display. I'm going tohave some kind of box made for it so I can have the dates of the raising of the last four generations inscribed. Hopefully my five year old son will someday ask about the craft
