Iran to build joint oil refinery in Syria
Wed, 01 Apr 2009 17:10:44 GMT
Iran plans to construct a joint oil refinery facility in Syria's Homs city as the two countries are resolute about improving cooperation in energy.
"Iran will build the refinery in Syria in cooperation with Venezuela and Malaysia," Iranian Oil Minister Gholam-Hossein Nozari said in Damascus.
He pointed to an export agreement of Iran's gas to Syria via Turkey and said that the two sides are discussing the price of the sales. Turkey already imports Iranian gas to meet its energy requirements.
Based on the agreement signed between Tehran and Damascus in 2008, Iran's natural gas export to Syria will begin by the end of 2009, with a volume of three million cubic meters per day.
The volume is expected to rise to nine million cubic meters per day during the next three years.
The sales agreement is said to have a term of 25 years; renewable for a further five years.

Thanks for posting. Removed my comment as I misread the article as referring to the Sudan.
I not sure I see your point if there is one....You dont want Iran to have nuclear power (Nor I !!!) but then have a problem with them refining too...??

Well, hello Mr. 50 posts in 2-1/2 years! Whose main account does this troll account belong to?
I didn't know that it was a requirement to have a point before posting? I thought it was interesting news and wanted to share. Iran is in desperate need of refineries and this marked a notable announcement in relation to current oil prices and future projections. From there, you can draw your own conclusions.
