Im thinking seriously about buying a bengal from a breeder in Texas. Is there something special about them or should I just regard them as a regular cat??

Breeders < shelters.

Give a needy cat a home.

Exotic pet, exotic prices, some interesting traits to discuss with the breeder. I would love to own one.

If you find one like this at a shelter, let me know please.

Bengals are a special kind of cat. They seek more attention and to me they are alot smarter than a regular cat. That being said they are much more of a pain than a normal cat

My boy Moose plays fetch, greets strangers at the door, has a barking kind of meow when he wants attention, doesn't fear the water sprayer, and has many "doglike" traits. But he's just a shelter cat with a pretty coat and a great personality.

What about petfinder.com or Bengal rescues?

+1. Buddy is one of the best cats we've ever had. One of the wife's friends found him abandoned under her house as a kitten:

When he's not napping or on someone's lap, he's outside decimating the local varmit population.

This pretty much sums it up - our 13 year old Bengal passed away last month. We loved him dearly, he was beautiful and loved us in return, but he was also a pain in the ass - kinda like a bad two year old. He didn't play well with others.

We're also blessed to have a Savannah - he's about 3 now - and he is by far the sweetest cat we've ever had, but Savannahs are admittedly silly stupid expensive.

I've got a 7 yr old female Bengal, a 13 yr old male GSD and a 6 yr old female Pit Bull. The damn cat seriously believes that she's a large jungle cat. She routinely attacks the dogs. And not the 'hide on a kitchen chair and swat at them when they walk by' kind of attack. It's more like the 'strut across the floor making some ungodly gutteral sound and bite the dog on the face' kind of attack.

Cool cat for sure, but she's a handful. I've heard others say theirs are completely normal housecats, but mine regularly channels the antichrist.
