Our gray tabby female is about 1 1/2 years old. Tonight she was walking around, meowing and jumping up on the couch with us, generally doing fine so we thought. Within a half an hour she got up in my lap and was shivering and couldn't sit still as if she could not get comfortable. She acted like she wanted to stay there but doesn't want me to touch her, just let her lay. Her paws are trembling and she keeps turning her head like it hurts.
Any ideas? I know this isn't much to go on. I have a call in to the local vet clinic.

This.
It sounds like she may have ate something she shouldnt have.
No mouse bait or anything like that at this time. We do have a poinsettia in the house so she may have chewed on the leaves. I don't know though. Its gone out in the trash.
She is resting quietly now and not trembling anymore. No call back from the vet so I will take her in the morning.
Thanks for the replies!

Poinsettas are poisonous.
