How often should we be feeding our corn snake?
5 years old, about 4' long. We feed him one mouse once a week.
Sorry no pics, we need to clean out his tank so when we do I'll update the thread.
That schedule is totally fine. In the summer I feed all my snakes once a week, as fall/winter hits I only feed 1-2 year olds weekly. I drop adults to once every 2-3 weeks.
One mouse for a 4' snake seems too little. I'd ask on a snake or reptile forum.
I think a large mouse once a week should be fine for a Cornsnake.
I usually feed most of my snakes once every 2, sometimes 3 weeks, but I feed pretty large items.
The more you feed it, the faster it is going to grow. If it starts to lose weight, you aren't feeding enough.
If there is space between the scales, it is too fat and you should cut back on food.
A snake breeder I knew had a wild caught snake that refused to eat. It lived around a year and a half without a meal before it died.
They are pretty hardy animals and would be pretty hard to starve on accident. Water is different. Make sure they always have fresh water.
