Looks like they moved it from the Las Vegas Convention Center. How bigis this new place?

And anyone else having a harder time getting registered this year?
They aren't taking my FFL, I hope it only a website glitch.

No problems here,

just register and email them a GOVT issued id and the link to my websited, took about 24 hours to be checked out and approved

Okay, I registered and received an Email confirmation. But have not been asked to provide any supporting documentations. I notice in the fine print all registrations will be processed/credit cards charged and that doesnt necessarily mean your registration was approved. In other words, you pay your money and take your chances. They can deny your registration and you are out the $20.00

"NOTE: You are strongly advised to review the show's attendee identification & validation policy before submitting your registration and payment. Payments received will be processed even though you may not be eligible to attend the show."

I expect to see some "they charged my card but i never got my badge" threads come january.

Running it only during the work week seems like a dumb idea, but the upside will be it should be a whole lot less crowded.

With a week day show, new location and more strict attendance policies it should be much less crowded. Less lion humping and less gunfire in the FN booth too, hopefully.

Hopefully a lot less people, especially if they arent even in the industry.
Less Shenanigans

if they are going to let everyone in they should do mon-thurs and only let industry people in and fri-sun free for all and charge at the door.

So, it's going to be tough for us end users to get any love at SHOT?

2 years ago they were letting military in. I think they still are but am not sure. Give them a call or shoot them a email

Here is their attendance rules
http://www.shotshow.org/en/Attendee-Information/

This is posted in their Q&A
Q:What is show management doing to limit the number of non-buyers gaining entry to the show?

A:We’ve implemented additional screening layers to help further qualify buyers and we are placing more restrictions on “guest of show” badges in addition to advising exhibitors to limit their badges to booth staff and company employees.

I always see a lot of mil guys running around so I am sure you can find a way in.

Still debating on whether to attend the Show or go Hunting this year.
To early in the new year.
I like Vegas but having the show there for the next 3 years is a bit much.
What about us Easterners- that damn flight is annoying.
Besides you have better weather in Orlando.

Although 2009 SHOT was a bit of a let down, everything else- the weather, the partying and dining was fantastic.

I will say that the food and spa experience in Vegas is beyond comparison.
Wow, I'm talking myself into going.

Vegas has some of the cheapest round trip flights from anywhere in the country and the SHOT is tiny to them. I missed Orlando so I cant directly compare the two.

Took me (3) days of 4 hour slots to cover everything, but I like military, LEO, hunting, and cowboy.

If you only were interested in one field, you would only need one day.

This is my first one. I will be there Monday through Friday. Any tips from you guys who have attended in the past? I read on the rules page that cameras are not allowed. Is this a new thing? I know several people have took them in the past. I am staying at Harrah's. So all I have to do is walk across the street & I am there. I know it is not the nicest place, but I do not plan on spending much time there & do not want to rent a car or take a bus every day. This way I can make 3 trips a day to the room to drop off swag

I will be staying in your shadows (the Riviera). Had to go on the cheap, but for $360 round trip and a 6 night hotel stay, gives me more funds for food and drink.

At least I will be there!

Haven't figured out my hotel yet, but I have my flight and am going to the GSSF match the following weekend.

They wouldn't accept my 03FFL in the FFL form but a CS rep told me to just enter it in the comments field, and I had them send my confirmation to my .gov email address, so I should be safe .

Looking forward to the ARFcom party... when and where is it ?

Got laid off so I doubt I'm going to make it. Either will still be unemployed or won't be able to get time off in the middle of the week at a new job.

I always bring a small digital camera. Ask permission before taking any pics.

Just registered........Put my C&R in the "other" section. If you click on the FFL number "(i)" box, it says don't enter C&Rs since they cannot be verified on the FFL's EZ check, enter it into box 3 and they will be admitted.

Either way, just request your badge be mailed to you––there wasn't anyone checking paperwork. Just people standing at the door to make sure you had a badge on.

They're not mailed out until 3-4 weeks before the show IIRC.

What's the best budget hotel ($50 or less a night) within a mile or two of the show?

anyone carry a back pack or something to carry all the stuff that is handed out, or are packs allowed?
MSARDave  [Industry Partner]

Almost everyone has a backpack. You even see a lot of folks with those little rolling suitcases. As far as cameras go, just ask before you take a picture. The last day is always the best day to go, some vendors sell their stuff instead of taking it home.

The SHOT is awesome.

Flamingo is pretty decent, I have 4 nights, including airfare, for under 400 bucks

I managed to score a room at Encore the 19th-22nd. At least I'll have a decent place to flop...
