It's cool, and I want one-but given what ARES did to people with the SHRIKE, why would I send them any of MY money?

That is cool... Now they need to make 20 or more round mags for it.

+87

I was interested in that and the Fudd rifle AR15 lower until I saw the manufacturer name. Vaporware-Ares.

I hope that once they are in their new location they will be able to deliver on their products. I really like the concept.

I heard Ares is now accepting deposits for this item. Better hurry and get on the waiting list.

Sorry, I couldn't resist.

Wouldn't it be an issue that once you make your pistol into a rifle (via adding a stock), it's legally a rifle and cannot be a pistol again?

It wouldn't necessarily be enforceable but...

no, on the rugers the upper is the part thats the gun, not the lower.

edit to clarify: what you see in the pic would have to go through an FFL. its a gun in its own right. your not changing anything.

So unless they are making hi-caps for the Rugers, what is the point of a 10rd 22lr rifle. Unless you are in Commiefornia.

you can turn a pistol in to a rifle and back again, its a rifle that you cant turn in to a pistol without SBR paperwork

ALL you are doing is adding a ruger bolt and grip.

The "PISTOL" part of the RUGER is the upper, and STAYS a PISTOL.

The "GRIP FRAME" has nothing to do with the upper legally, and can be added to the new "RIFLE" upper without any legal issues.

Purchase the rifle upper on a 4473 and use the non registered ruger parts, and you're done!!

What someone needs to do is make compatible grip frames so people don't need to buy a "donor" gun for the uppers they make (thinking of the pac-lites too).

This makes no sense.

What part?

The "LOWER" on an AR15 is the registered part.
The "UPPER" on a SIG 556 is the registered part.
The "UPPER" on a Ruger Pistol is the registered part.

registered part = 4473 to transfer.

Which is why the new upper for this pistol makes no sense. You can't just buy the lower half of it because Ruger is all tightass about it. Seems like if I have to buy the upper through a FFL it might as well have the trigger group on it in the first place.

I'm sure that there are alot of Ruger Mark series pistol owners out there that think it makes lots of sense... That is a very popular pistol. If it is a reasoable price, I will get one. So what if you only have 10 round mags. That would be a great compact carbine for a BOB or in your truck. I hope it does become avaliable. Can't wait to see the who the first person will be to SBR it...

Tactical Solutions, Tactical Innovations, Volquartsen are just a few companies that come to mind when thinking about this product.

They ALL make a Ruger REPLACEMENT RECEIVER.

ALL USE THE GRIP FRAME FROM A STANDARD FACTORY WEAPON.

Why do this?

Because RUGER has sold thousands of these things, and when the upper starts to wear, and the user needs replacement options, HERE THEY ARE.

When is that receiver ever going to wear out? They are very study. and probably overbuilt for a .22

Exactly. I don't know what the advantage is in leaving out the cheapest part, a PLASTIC grip frame...
