Suggest a good free & safe WinXP music player
My home PC is older, and still is loaded with an old Dell product called 'MusicMatch' that went tits up in '07. I don't like Windows Media Player.
I don't need too much other than the ability to write CDAs for my older audio equipment. It would help if the software also had the ability to modify the 'volume level' of the tracks as some of my older CDs consist of quieter recordings than others. (hello Tesla Mechanical Resonance)
Since I'm not a big software or music downloader, I don't know the best sites to download public domain software without risk.
Any suggestion would help...
I'll look into it...

VLC works pretty good for me. It doesn't require externally written codecs, it has them built-in
