New toy for me...and nobody's more surprised than I am.

I almost can't believe I've done this.
I build my own guitars. Good ones. REALLY good ones, actually. I generally have the opinion that I don't need to buy any other
maker's guitars because I can pretty much match anything anyone else can make.
But sometimes, the right thing comes along at the right time.
So I bought this Paul Reed Smith Employee guitar, an SC245, and it should be arriving in a little over a week.
The story on PRS Employee guitars is that the company permits each PRS employee, after they have been employed for one year,
the opportunity to have a guitar made for them, at cost, any way they want it. Limit one per year, and the employee is not allowed to sell
the guitar for one year from the date the guitar build starts. The employee can ask specific other workers in the factory to do specific
jobs on it, if they have a preference. So if Bob makes the best necks and Joe does the best finish work, the employee can ask Bob
to make the neck and Joe to do the finish on that employee guitar. Of course, it's an honor to be asked to work on an employee guitar.
They are often made with some of the most exceptional woods that are in the factory. This one is no exception.
I saw it, loved it, and made the deal for it. I'm sure I won't regret it, and if I take care of it, which I will, it will only appreciate in value,
so it's a good investment in addition to being a REALLY nice axe.

I used to work for an industrial supplier in Baltimore that supplied PRS with all their abrasive products. Best I got out of them was a t-shirt! That is one bad a#* guitar!! Nice score!!!

Enjoy. i just got a DGT last week to add to the collection, it is by far one of the best playing guitars i own.

Nice!!! I have some friends who worked in the Dean custom shop when it was here back in the '90s and they built some sweet guitars for themselves. One friend still builds customs like you do; he got a shitload of wood when they closed down and he still has plenty.

If those pictures are even close to reality, that guitar looks like pure sex.

I honestly can't say whether or not this PRS has inspired me or if it was just a matter of things coming together at the same time,
but since I've gotten this I've had a much stronger desire to practice and improve my playing. I've learned tons more theory than
I EVER knew before and my improvement in playing ability is considerable.
I'm playing this guitar more than the others I have. Not exclusively, but probably 70 percent of the time I'm playing anything.
People who play it all agree that it's either the best guitar they've ever played or fully equal to any they've played. I tend to think so, too.
And, it better be, for what I paid for it! I've never paid more for anything that didn't have doors and a roof on it!
