Just discovered Morphine by accident today. Wow. I'm going to have to buy all their CDs. They've long since disbanded, but what a great sound. It really resonates with me.
Anybody found a band they wish they'd heard when the band first came out? I feel gypped I'll never get to see them in concert.
Husker Du
Death
The Minutemen
Both Death and The Minutemen lost key members (R.I.P. Chuck and D. Boon) and a Husker Du reunion seems unlikely, but I can hope.
One stands out in my mind: Botch
One -
another (fun when the guitarist de-tunes his guitar for a breakdown...

)
Started listening to them in about 2002... right after they broke up. I missed the one time I could have seen them in Minneapolis by mere weeks, from what I hear.
The guitarist now plays in the radically-different-from-Botch "
Minus the Bear".

Death is one of my top favorite bands.
I recently downloaded the Human 20th anniversary album. It's full of demos and unreleased tracks (drum and bass tracks, etc). Reinforces the fact that Chuck was one of the most talented and influential metal guitarists ever.
The Human Abstract rocks too:

All that remains.
There's just a few bands that caught my attention lately
Fortress by PTH is fucking EPIC. One of the best metal albums ever IMO.
